Irrigation Review - Valves
How is pressure, in an electric control valve, released off the upper chamber?
Through the intake port
Through the bypass port
Through the bonnet
Through the flow control
What happens when an electrical current charges the solenoid?
The plunger goes up
The plunger goes down
The inlet port opens
The bleed screw opens
What is the purpose of the flow control knob?
To manually open and close the valve
To release pressure off the upper chamber
To control the plunger in the solenoid
To open the intake port
What would cause the sprinklers to stay on after the valve is shut off (assuming it’s the valve)?
The plunger is stuck open
The plunger is stuck closed
There is a broken wire
The bypass port is plugged
What is the purpose of the bleed screw?
To manually build pressure in the upper chamber
To manually turn off the system
To manually pull up the plunger
To manually turn on the sprinklers
What would happen to a valve if you got debris in the bypass port?
The diaphragm would pop up
You could not relieve pressure on the upper chamber
Pressure would build and the valve would burst open
The intake port would also be plugged
Where is the plunger in an electric control valve?
In the outlet
In the solenoid
Attached to the bonnet, by the flow control
Inside the flow control knob
How does the water that flows to the sprinklers move through the valve?
Through the intake port and out the outlet
Through the inlet and out the bypass port
Through the inlet and out the outlet under the diaphragm
Through the intake port and out the bypass port
What is the advantage of an internal manual bleed?
Which manual valve is used for larger installations?
Gate
Butterfly
Ball
Which manual valve has a circular handle?
Gate
Butterfly
Ball
